Three Cubans take home Latin Grammy awards

Arturo Sandoval, Alex Cuba and Pitbull were winners in their respective categories. Juan Formell also received a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Cuba was well represented Thursday night at the annual Latin Grammy awards in Las Vegas. Alex Cuba, won the award for Best Short Form Music Video, Arturo Sandoval, won Best Traditional Tropical Album with "Un Siglo de Pasion," and the Cuban-American Pitbull, won Best Performance Urban Performance for "Echa pa 'lla (Manos Pa'rriba)."
The popular musician, arranger and composer Juan Formell, leader of Los Van Van, received the a Lifetime Achievement Award on Wednesday night--award also given to other pillars of Latin music, such as Miguel Rios, Eddie Palmieri and Palito Ortega.
Amidst the cold and rain in Sin City, the Latin Recording Academy announced the winners in 37 of the 48 existing categories.
Puerto Rican artist Wisin opened the ceremony performing "Que viva la vida," just before Roselyn Sanchez and Ivan Sanchez presented the award for Best Contemporary Pop Vocal Album.
Venezuela's La Vida Bohème, who won the award for Best Rock Album for "will", came dressed with the typical Venezuelan liqui-liqui costume but in black instead of the traditional white, and faces smeared with black rubber simulating oil spills.
"Volvi a nacer," written by Andrés Castro and Carlos Vives song won the award for Best Tropical Song.
In the category of Best Salsa Album, Sergio George's prevailed with work done in collaboration with Willy Chirino.
