A student march is called at the Plaza Sadel and was set to march to the Cuban Embassy to demand an end to the island's interference in the affairs of Venezuela.

Student members of the opposition in Venezuela called for a march on Tuesday as part of their protests against the government of President Nicolas Maduro and government interference from Cuba.

Students were to convene at 10 am at the Plaza Alfredo Sadel in Las Mercedes and march to the Cuban embassy in Caracas, said Gabriela (Gaby) Arellano, a counselor at the University of Los Andes (ULA) .

"We will meet in the Plaza Alfredo Sadel. At 10 am we will walk to the Cuban embassy," Arellano posted in Spanish on her Twitter account.

The tweet below is translated as, “We will demand the cessation of interference of the Cuban Castros in Venezuela.”

According to the newspaper El Universal, residents of Las Mercedes in the municipality of Baruta report that the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) is deploying a contingent of officers in the area surrounding the Plaza Alfredo Sadel.

GNB officers are already stationed in two streets of Las Mercedes: Madrid and Mucuchíes.

The tweet below reads: "This was the reception at the Cuban embassy. No one took our document, we read it out loud."

This demonstration comes on the heels of Monday’s protests in cities such as San Cristobal, near the border with Colombia, and on the east side of Caracas, where students burned tires and put up barricades to obstruct traffic.

In the Plaza Altamira in Caracas, demonstrators clashed with the National Guard (GNB), who used tear gas and pellet shots to control the protest.

During three weeks of protests, there have been at least 14 dead, over 140 injured and 45 arrested , according to official figures from AFP.

The student-led demonstrations are a protest against insecurity, inflation, shortage of basic needs and the arrest of several of their peers.
